Performance Dates for Spring Show 2012

Ballet Carnival of the Animals (children’s) & Coppelia
Contemporary “Let’s Get Animated”

We will be performaing at South Hills Middle School in Herriman
Performance Dates are:
Coppelia Wednesday May 30 (7 pm) and Friday June 1 (7 pm)
Carnival of the Animals and Let’s Get Animated Thursday May 31(7 pm) and Saturday June 2 (2pm)
Dress Rehearsals are Friday May 25 and Saturday May 26 at South Hills Middle School

Rehearsal May 25 is as follows:
4-6 pm Carnival of the Animals
6-8 pm Coppelia
8-10 pm Contemporay

Rehearsal May 26
9-11 am Carnival of the Animals
11 am-2 pm Coppelia
2 pm-5 pm Contemporary

Studio rehearsals will take place for Coppelia: Friday May 4, Friday May 11 & Friday May 18 from 8-10 pm dancers may leave when done.
Carnival of the Animals: Saturday May 5, Saturday May 12 & Saturday May 19 from 3-5 pm
Contemporary: Saturday May 5, Saturday May 12 & Saturday May 19 from 5-8 pm

Attending the rehearsals are important for the dancers to be ready to perform on stage but if you have to miss please let Sheila know. The younger childeren who are in more that one performance we will make sure that they are out of rehearsal quickly.

I tried to make every effort to schedule the performance at a time that wouldn’t conflict with vacations and camps.

I will assume that you will be participating in the concert unless you email me and let me know otherwise

Tuition through the month of June must be paid in order to participate. Regular classes will take place in the month of June at the normal times

July classes will be two one week workshops July 9-20

August classes will start the new dance year Monday August 6

Students participating in the July and August classes will not have to pay a registration fee for the year. If you pay your August tuition in July you will receive a 20% discount for August, September and October. I would like to do registration for the next dance year at the end of May to help plan for the year. All that needs to be done is filling out a new registration form. The new dance schedule will be available by the first of May.

There will be a $30 concert fee for individual and $40 for a family for the spring performance. This fee pays for the building rental, programs tickets etc. With this concert fee each dancer will receive 4 tickets. Additional tickets will be available for purchase. The concert fee will be coming out on March 15.

Contemporary dancers will be purchasing their costumes, we will do our best to keep the costs as low as possible. Each teacher will tell the students what is needed

Ballet Dancers will rent/cleaning fee the costumes from the studio $15 for the first costume $10 for the 2nd costume and $5 for each additonal costume. The rental fee’s will be taken out May 15.

We will do pictures in costume and also have the performance recorded and these will be available for puchase.

I will be emailing everyone to let yo know what performances your children are in.

2012 Nutcracker DVD’s

Nutcracker DVD’s will be available on Tuesday January 17 at ABA .  If you haven’t paid for them make checks payable to ABA  for $15 per video.

Martin Luther King Day

No classes on Monday January 16 in observance of Martin Luther King Day

Since Monday January 2 is the holiday for New Year’s Day we will not have class on Monday January 2.  Regular classes will start on Tuesday January 3

Friday December 16:  Class until 5 pm.  Dress Rehearsal at Elk Ridge Middle School at 6 pm

Saturday December 17:  No Class Performance at Elk Ridge Middle School

Monday December 19:  No Class Performance at Elk Ridge Middle School

Tuesday December 20:  No Class Performance at Elk Ridge Middle School

Wednesday December 21:  We will have Jazz Class other classes cancelled Performance at Elk Ridge Middle School

Nutcracker Notes

We need donations for the Nutcracker boutique.  I would like everybody to donate something to the boutique.  If you have a business and would like to promote it we will have booths, Contact Carol  at kikincarol@gmail.com for more information.  You can give all donations to Sheila or Carol.  If you a bigger item to donate we can do a silent auction for any of the bigger items.  We are also having baked goods or other food items donated to sell at the performance.  If you would like to donate to the bake sale contact Delicia at castyernet@comcast.net.  All food items would have to be eaten before going into the theater.  I would like all the older dancers to decorate and donate autographed pointe shoes to sell at the boutique.

I would like dancer’s from the 2nd act to come out to meet the audience and sign programs after each of the performances.

We need volunteers in different areas.  Sign up sheet will be at the studio this week and the dress rehearsal on Friday.

If you didn’t pick up your comp tickets you can still get them this week.

Hair and Makeup Requirements:

When putting hair in a bun, use gel, a hair net and bobypins.

Party Girls, Angels, Ginger Snaps, :  1/2 ponytail no bangs and curled, red blush, red lipstick, blue or green eye shadow.  Pink Tights, Pink ballet shoes No Undewear tights act as Underwear

Party Boys:  Black Ballet or Jazz Shoes and Black Socks

Soliders:  High bun, no bangs.  red blush, red lipstick, blue or green eye shadow.  Pink Tights, Black Ballet or Jazz shoes No Underwear tights act as Underwear

Mice:  Pink Tights and Ballet Shoes

Candy Canes, Petite Variations, and Jesters:  Hair in a middle bun no bangs, red blush, red lipstick, blue or green eye shadow.  Pink Tights, Pink ballet shoes No Undewear tights act as underwear.

Sensie Candle Fundraiser is due on December 12th.  Please bring back all the packets even if you didn’t sell anything.

Volunteers Needed For Nutcracker

There will be a sign up sheet for volunteers at the theater on Saturday, we need help with working the boutique, selling roses, selling tickets, ushering, helping with quick changes backstage, helping with younger children, being in charge of the holding room, helping with costumes.

We need help steaming costumes, if you are going to be at the rehearsal and could steam costumes that would be great.  I have one steamer, if you have a steamer and could bring it, that would be appreciated.

I will be moving things from the studio to the theater tomorrow starting at 8 am if anyone has a van or a truck and could help that would be great. 

We can’t lay down the floor until 1 pm but if you there we could use help with that.

 

No Class Saturday

There will be no classes on Saturday December 10 because of the Nutcracker Rehearsal at Elk Ridge Middle School

Comp Tickets for the Nutcracker

Cast members will recieve 4 complimentary tickets for each dancer and will be available at tomorrow’s  rehearsal.
